Five Current And Former Stanford Rowers Earn Olympic Berths Friday

Five current and former Stanford rowers were named to the Olympic rowing teams of the United States and Canada Friday, marking Stanford Rowing's greatest representation at an Olympic Games in program history. Elle Logan `10 and Lindsay Meyer `11, current members of the Stanford women's rowing team, will represent the U.S. in Beijing as Logan was named part of the Women's Eight (W8+) boat, and Meyer will be a member of the Women's Quadruple Sculls (W4x) boat. On the alumni side, Jamie Schroeder `05 will participate in his second Olympic Games, rowing on the U.S. Men's Quadruple Sculls (M4x) boat, David Banks `05 will be the bowman of the U.S. Men's Four (M4-) boat, and Adam Kreek `06 will also make his second Olympic appearance, rowing for Canada's Men's Eight.

Morrison And Reel Named 2008 First Team CRCA/Pocock All-Americans

Stanford senior rowers Jessi Reel and Steph Morrison were named to the College Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA)/Pocock All-America First Team, as announced by the CRCA on June 6. The award recognizes the outstanding performances of individual rowers and coxswains at NCAA DI institutions.

Six members of the Stanford rowing teams earned Pac-10 accolades today, as Commissioner Tom Hansen announced the Coach, Athlete, and Newcomer of the Year awards, along with the All-Conference teams, for both the men's and women's sides.

Elle Logan, Lindsay Meyer Successful At Lucerne World Cup Regatta

Sophomore Elle Logan and Freshman Lindsay Meyer helped the United States to two of its six medals on Sunday, June 1, at the second event of the World Cup Regatta in Lucerne, Switzerland. Both Logan and Meyer captured silver medals in the women's pair and women's quadruple sculls, respectively.

    The Stanford women's crew Varsity Eight just missed out on capturing its first national championship today in the Grand Final of the 2008 NCAA Rowing Championships at Lake Natoma in central California, crossing the finish line a mere nine-tenths of a second behind champion Yale. The Cardinal's second-place finish bests its previous top finish, a third-place effort in 2003.

    Stanford's women's varsity eight boat continued its run at the NCAA Rowing Championships Saturday, taking third in the day's first semifinal to advance to Sunday's Grand Final and a shot at the varsity eight national title for the first time since finishing third nationally in 2003. The Cardinal caught Harvard over the final half of the race to take over the third spot with a race time of 6:39.93, making the Grand Final cut with a top-three finish.
