Omaha, Neb.- Stanford men's swimming continued their impressive meet at day five of the U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials. The Cardinal had two athletes finish sixth in the finals of the 100 meter freestyle and the 200 meter breastroke.

Stanford's Ben Wildman-Tobriner led the Cardinal men's swimmers into the halfway point of the 2008 USA OIympic Swimming Trials, qualifying for tomorrow's 100 meter freestyle final with a time of 48.71 seconds. The longer 100 meter distance is a precursor for Wildman-Tobriner to Friday's 50 meter free, which he enters as the top seed with a 21.80-second qualifying time - just four hundredths of a second off Gary Hall, Jr.'s American record of 21.76.

Stanford's Chris Ash finished just three-tenths of a second shy of qualifying for the Beijing Games in the 100 meter breaststroke, placing sixth in the event at the USA Olympic Swimming Trials with a time of 1:01.12. However, the Cardinal senior still has the 200 meter breast remaining to swim in Omaha.

OMAHA, Neb.- The Stanford men's swimming team will be well represented at the U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials, which begin Sunday, June 29 and continue until Sunday, July 6. Stanford will have several current team members as well as Cardinal alums competing for spots on the 26-man U.S. Olympic swim team that will travel to Beijing, China for the 2008 Olympic Games that begin on August 8.
